Welcome

Welcome to the first edition of the Patel Conservatory blog. Here we hope you'll learn more about the wonderful programs, the talented staff and students, and how you can explore your own creative aspirations through music, dance and theater at the Patel Conservatory.

Summer is the perfect time to step outside the box and try something new. Take up an instrument, try our free Latin ballroom dance class, or just get away from the TV on the weekend by attending a show at the Straz Center.

The Patel Conservatory Youth Theater (PCYT) performs Fame - the Musical Friday, June 4. With tickets starting at only $10, it's the perfect way to enjoy live theater with the family. Bring your kids, your mom or your friends and reminisce back to the days of Irene Cara and Debbie Allen. (PCYT is for grades 9 - 12. The show contains some mature subject matter and may not be suitable for a younger audience.)

If you're considering class at the Patel Conservatory, this is the ideal way to see what some of our students are doing. With shows like this, students get the opportunity to perform in the professional environment of the Straz Center.

Fame is finding popularity with a new generation. Its timeless story of a group of students at NYC's High School for the Performing Arts speaks to that desire in all of us to follow our dreams and be true to our passions.

This PCYT production is directed by Lisa Vorreiter. A drama teacher at Alonso High School, Vorreiter has taught theater and dance for Hillsborough County Public Schools for 24 years.

She's just one of the many professionals who bring their years of expertise to the quality programs at the Patel Conservatory.
