Take your Gasparilla costume to the next level with our Pirate Boot Camp!


Step up your Gasparilla costume this year with our PIrate Book Camp workshop!

As part of Patel Conservatory’s Behind the Curtain workshop series, this hands-on DIY workshop will teach you how to create an authentic pirate look worthy of ye finest krewe!

In this workshop, students will be introduced to the basics of make up, hair and costume design that will help them get ready for Tampa’s Gasparilla Festival. Learn aging/distressing, theatrical and glamour make-up techniques that will take your Gasparilla costume to the next level.

Hair, scars, bruises and accessorizing will be demonstrated. Students will have the opportunity to apply learned skills in an application portion where they will create their own pirate persona. Students will be provided with all materials to create in-class applications as well as how-to and material guides to take home for reference.

Parents, take the night off while kids enjoy fun and games


Parents, mark your calendars now for a parents’ night out in December. Take the night off while the kids enjoy fun and games at the Patel Conservatory’s Holiday Happen’ event.

It's a theater-themed PJ party! Students in grades one through six will enjoy an evening full of holiday activities, including theater games, a craft/gift making station, movies, holiday snacks and more. 

It’s a great opportunity for students to bring their friends and enjoy social time together while parents get some holiday shopping done or just enjoy a night out!

This event is open to all new and current students.

Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their pajamas.

The cost is $30 per student, or $50 for two students.

Cinderella tea at the Children's Museum



Cinderella will be at the Glazer Children’s Museum this Sunday for a special royal visit.

In anticipation of Next Generation Ballet’s (NGB) production of Cinderella, the museum will host a Cinderella tea this Sun., Apr. 7, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cinderella, the Prince, the Fairy Godmother, the Four Fairies and the Jester will be on hand for tea service and finger sandwiches.

NGB dancers will mingle with guests and even teach some ballet movements to the little ones.

Don’t miss this chance for the kids to meet the ballerinas, see the costumes and explore the history of this classic tale.

Tickst are $20 for general admission, and $15 for museum members.
